Time and perspective.

Time and perspective

4 weeks ago I was in London preparing to talk on artificial intelligence and IBD. My good friend Bu organised the most extraordinary conference on AI in GI. We heard from world leading experts and many companies at the cutting edge of technology and digital health. It felt like we were on the cusp of a revolution in medicine with our speciality – GI – leading the way.

But that was 4 weeks ago.

Today I was due to be in Brazil – at their first National IBD Conferences – organised by my good friends Natalia and Paulo.

But we are of course all at home, at work, fighting the biggest fight of our professional careers.

Everyone is coming together. We are doing our best to learn from others and to prepare. Are we ready? I don’t know. But we have done everything we can.

For now, in Edinburgh at least we draw breath. I have worked hard to ensure there is as much process in place for our teams and our patients. I want to do everything possible to protect our IBD patients and keep them safe. We are settling into a new normal … before things change again. I hope it helps you to read my thoughts. It helps me to write them.

Stay safe. Stay at home. Save Lives
